The Science Behind It
Suncatchers are a great way to introduce kids to the concept of light and color. When sunlight hits the tissue paper, it passes through the translucent layers, refracting and creating a colorful display. This happens because light bends as it moves through different materials—wax paper and tissue paper—changing its direction and causing the vibrant colors to spread across the room. The phenomenon of light refraction is what makes suncatchers so mesmerizing.
